“I’m a performing artists. I was once into real estate but when my mother passed away I realized how short life is. So i quit my real estate job, and since I’ve always been a writer I pursued that. It helped me get out of my head while dealing with the loss. Now I just recently published a book and perform poetry. What i learned from all of this is: Be intentional. When you follow your intentions on what you want to do it’s always going to guide you to where you want to go. I chose to be intentional with my art and touch the people by showing them that you can speak your truth in a world full of fakes.”
“I love photography, but there was a moment where i had gave it up for about 2 years. I don’t know, i felt I lost my creativity and nothing was really inspiring me at the time. Then my father passed away and then that’s when i ended up picking my camera back up. My father was a strong proponent with me when it came to doing things I loved doing. And he was the one who was always pushing me to do things. So i felt like he would’ve never wanted to see me just give up and stop. So i made the decision to go out and live a little bit more and that was when i regained my inspiration...”
“I just wanna be heard, get back to the youth and inspire others. I feel like the best way to that is through my music because you can’t interrupt me when I’m doing my music. And it’s a way to be remembered because once you lay your voice down it’s there forever. For my people who are still trying to figure out what they want to do in life or don’t know if what they’re doing is the right thing, I would say: Nothing good in life comes easy, it’s hell and turmoil out here. You just gotta fight your way through it. I always say that “closed doors bring windows of opportunity”. Perseverance is key! Make sure you check my new single!”
“Fashion has been a part of me since i was a little kid. So my style is pretty much naturally developed.”
“I'm 16 years old and I live alone with my mother and a xoloizcuintle dog in the matrix (Mexico City), I've been a drummer for about 4 years, I have 3 musical groups and I do not like going to school, I rather go to the beach near the sea, my favorite superhero is aquaman and I do not like any sports except boxing or jiujits.”
“I am inspired by women who do not follow the norm and who, despite the obstacles, manage to overcome them and end up leaving a mark on history.
It keeps me alive the idea of being one of them and inspiring other girls to fight for their dreams and to be rebels within this system that teaches us to be submissive and condescending. May they identify with me and not feel alone.”
“I'm a student, I'm finishing up school to start on my career. I'm also a contemporary dancer, dance inspires me because you transmit many things. The costumes, the hairstyles are ways of transmitting your culture to the people watching. Thats why I find dance so inspiring.”
“I wish to offer the world the courage to take risks and inspire others. If you love something do it, if you have an opinion share it. Sometimes you have to just put yourself out there and see what happens...”
"I would instantly tell my younger self to start loving yourself immediately because you won't grow unless you do. You'll never know what love is (as much as you may want it) until you start loving yourself. The process of loving myself has been the best!
I believe there's this secret ingredient to life which is simply making time for YOU. Even when you don't know what you want to do or what your purpose is in life; go figure it out! Go out there! Get a book, go to a park, read it! Once you're done with that, go get some coffee. Just keep "doing". I feel a lot of us are lost. Like, we aren't connected with ourselves. And unfortunately, we try to fill our voids with objects, things and even people. But we can't fill it that way, we can only fill it by nurturing ourselves."
"This is my first time traveling alone. As a woman, I know this could sound like a scary thing. But I really enjoyed myself out here in Miami. The idea of having money and time is still very new to me. That's going to take some time to believe (laugh) Im being more intentional with doing things that bring me joy. Again, this is very new to me so I'm really just taking it all in at the moment. But I'm learning to enjoy things in the moment. And I can think about the future in a way that doesn't take me out the present."- Diana
"I really love your website, we need more of this in the world. Like, why limit your knowledge to stereotypes when you can discover so much more about a person..."
"You want to know how to gain respect? Love yourself. Love yourself and treat yourself and others the same way you do yourself.
Let me tell you, it don't cost nothing to be about something!! But it sure do cost a lot of something to get out of nothing... Think about that..."- Welmon
"This is something that still on going. So, I was originally born in Mexico City, so I'm undocumented. Because of that people have always thought I wouldn't be able to achieve much to get very far in life. But a few years ago, Obama passed a law where I can apply for a work permit and be here legally to work. So ever since then I've been working at least 2 jobs at a time and going to school. I remember, summer of 2014 I was working at a Papa Johns, a place called Zuma fun center and doing non Profit work for the governor race that year as well as attending school full time. Still to this day I only have one day off out of the week cause I want to be someone some day, you know? In high school I got left out of so many opportunities for that reason. I couldn't study abroad, I couldn't apply for certain programs cause of my status. So now I'm working towards something great, I don't know what it is just yet, but it's going to happen. I will prove them wrong, and the best part about it Is that I'm going to do it my way. I don't mind taking the roads less traveled. I just want to make sure I don't follow anyone's footsteps. I don't want people to tell me, you're the next so and so. I want them to say you're the first David Briceño."- Dave
"I paint, draw and I have recently been working on different sculptures. I'm always looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge. I am always looking to improve my art,I have been drawing since I was a kid. Most of my pieces are re-created from my art work as a child. Art is the only way that I have ever been able to express myself, so you can imagine how much joy it brings to me. I am not very good at communicating but my art says everything I've ever needed to."- Kayla
"I'm 54 right now and if I could speak to the 20 year old younger version of myself, I would say: 'do everything the same exact way. Take the chances and if you make any mistakes along the way, it'll only make you stronger. When I look at all of my mistakes and achievements, they all even out and I wouldn't be the man I am without them.'"- Ralph
I just like being outside. When I'm outdoors, I feel like I'm at peace with myself a lot more. And I can come here by myself most of the time. My wife doesn't really enjoy it as much as I do(laughs). My daughter is 20 now and I started bringing her out here when she was 10. I feel like quality time with your children is so important.
So im 57 right now. I'm a high school biology teacher and tennis coach. Being given the chance to travel a lot of places, looking back I would tell myself not to settle down too quick without seeing the world. It's not as easy now as it use to be for me. But I would definitely say go out and experience as much as you can. I'm not talking about any drugs or nothing like. Stay healthy as long as you can and see the world. I just can't understand people staying inside all the time, ya know? (Laughs)
My daughter's in college now, and I just told her to work hard, set a goal and go for it. And stay positive. Don't sweat the little stuff. Life is too short to worry about the things that don't matter."-Stacey
We just got engaged!!
Collin- "When we made it to the end of the trail, she was standing over the edge taking pictures. That's when I just kneeled down behind her on that hard ass rock for 30 secs just shaking (laughs). So I called her name and she turned around and says 'Oh my God'." (laughs)
Shelby- "I was so dehydrated. I was like 'I think I'm crying, I don't know what's going on'." (laughs).
Collin- "Yea I think she on had maybe one or two tears that her body could actually afford at the time." (laughs)
Shelby- (laughs) "But I was very shocked and it was so beautiful! Very exciting!" (smiles)
"10 years from now? I'm hoping to have my dream car(laughs). It's a 2007 Dodge Viper GTS-R. I like American muscle cars. The only import I would get is the newer Lexus BRZ or FRS. With the import I would go JDM with it (Japan Domestic Made). As you can see, I love cars (laughs).
But as far as in my life goes, in 10 years I hope to just get money, have a good career with no kids. Never.
One of my greatest fears is being alone. When I turned 19, I found out I was adopted. So that's when I found out why all my brothers and sisters had a greater age difference from me and why we didn't look alike. So I always felt like the black sheep of the family. Then I finally found my biological mother and etc. I still see her from time to time. But anyway, I just think my fear of being alone comes from childhood. I was always the younger one and different.
But being the black sheep can be a good thing too. My parents are very religious people. They're Christians and a prophet actually prophesied me coming into their life. My dad would tell me in the bible that people that were prophesied to be born ended up being great people."- Alexandra
"Peace to me looks like being in a place where you're surrounded by harmony and genuine Love. It's a place where I feel secure and comfortable with my surroundings, ya know?
I'm 30 years old right now and looking back in my earlier years, I would definitely tell myself: 'slow down bro, you will eventually get there'. I say this because back then I would react with more of rebellious response rather than thinking about the situation first. Like, I was thinking but I was just thinking too fast. Now that I'm more in tune with myself, I'm able to think properly and identify more things than I were able to when I was 20 years old.
I really want to get back into modeling because I absolutely Love fashion. Like, seriously, I would die for it... that's how much I Love it. Fashion is the biggest way to express yourself, ya know?
And you know the crazy thing about people? They will respect your appearance(shoes, hair, jewelry, clothes, etc.) before they actually respect YOU! Like, I'm walking around out here now and people are greeting me as if they actually know me. This one girl looks at me and says: 'He's a prince!'. And I'm like 'oh my gosh'. A prince? Where? I'm just an ordinary guy! (laughs)."- Tikki
